I love trying out toners & considering that it’s one of the skincare products that I religiously use everyday, I use them up pretty quickly and hence I always have an excuse lớn buy a new one (heh).
Having previously tried the Thayers’ astringent toner & having heard tons of amazing review about the OG toner, I decided that it was time for me khổng lồ revisit this witch hazel classic.
Product Description
In addition to containing calming oải hương Water and certified organic Aloe Vera, this unique, proprietary blend also contains certified organic, non-distilled Witch Hazel that’s grown exclusively for Thayers on a family farm in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
By avoiding distillation of our Witch Hazel, we’re able lớn preserve the naturally-occurring, beneficial tannins, which are known to lớn offer antioxidant và antibacterial benefits, và bring about a natural glow. Thayers elixirs have been a fixture in medicine cabinets for generations – once you use them, you’ll know why.

Ingredient List
You can find the full list and the ratings here.
The ingredient list is pretty short so that’s a plus. As promised by the brand, there’s no trace of alcohol in the lineup BUT there is an alarming proportion of fragrance in this. If you see the order on the official website, you’ll see that fragrance is ranked right after the lavender water.
It’s a little… ironic? lavender water is meant to lớn soothe irritated skin và supposedly good for sensitive and acne-prone skin, but on the other hand you have fragrance right smack there – um.

Packaging
The iconic red cap packaging is distinct enough. Frankly I don’t have much to say about this packaging – nothing lớn fault and nothing much lớn praise either, so that’s that.
Effectiveness
I initially bought this because I wanted to find a solution for my acne – glycolic acid could only be used a couple of times per week for me, & most of my other toners were better at cleansing my skin & moisturising but not so much at treating acne per se.
Texture-wise, this toner feels exactly like water. It also has a faint oải hương scent – I can’t tell whether it’s artificially added or it comes from the lavender water itself, but it is very pleasant & calming to smell, especially when you’re doing some self-care after a hectic day.
Despite the fact that it contains witch hazel, an ingredient well-known for absorbing oil, it actually didn’t sting in the way I had imagined it. Instead, it just feels like a nice moisturising swipe on my face. I vì chưng think this is because witch hazel also has soothing properties which are great for calming skin irritations, so it doesn’t affect your skin the same way that acids do.
I use this more often when I am struggling with hormonal acne rather than fungal acne. I find that this toner is seriously effective at drying up the excess sebum, & having oily skin is a major reason why my acne flares up during my time of the month, so it works out very well for me!
That being said, I want to lớn highlight that it’s much better to use Thayers Alcohol-Free lavender Witch Hazel Toner lớn clear up the oil before the acne occurs, rather than use it as an acne treatment. The former is actually very effective – if you face an issue similar to mine, you can consider using this toner more religiously closer to your period, which is when your sebum production tends khổng lồ go haywire. This prevents the problem of clogged pores & in turn acne!
Final Verdict
While this sản phẩm is no miracle solution khổng lồ curing acne, Thayers Alcohol-Free oải hương Witch Hazel Toner is actually as good as the review say, which is really no wonder that the red caps remain holy grails for many.
My tip: if you only combination skin / a few areas that are particularly oily or show early signs of stress and acne, soak a few cốt tông pads with Thayers Alcohol-Free lavender Witch Hazel Toner và leave them on your skin. This works like targeted sheet masks – all you need is 5 minutes to reap the benefits!
